Excitement is mounting ahead of a Suffolk seaside town’s annual carnival extravaganza, with organisers saying that more than 40 floats will be taking part in the procession.
The Felixstowe Carnival is set to take place next weekend, from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28, with the procession starting in Colneis Road on the Saturday forming the centrepiece of the event.
Carnival organiser Sarah Gooch said: “There are over 40 floats that have been confirmed, but we always get more at the last minute.
“The number is about comparable to last year or maybe a few more than last year.”

The procession is set to follow a route that will include Beatrice Avenue, Hamilton Road, Orwell Road, Garrison Lane and Undercliff Road West, before finishing in Sea Road.
Ms Gooch said there had been a “couple of small changes” to the musical line-up, but otherwise events were going ahead as planned.
The festivities will begin with a carnival proms night, featuring a performance by Suffolk-based big band Swing Machine, on the Friday between 7pm and 10pm.

Ms Gooch added: “The weather this weekend has been fantastic. We have seen so many people around the beach area and we are hoping for more of the same for the carnival weekend.”
