31st May @ 2:00 pm

Join Professor Anthony Musson as he explores Wolsey’s role in overseeing diplomatic encounters and hosting festivities for foreign rulers or their ambassadors, most notably arranging the extraordinary meeting of Henry VIII and Francis I, King of France, in 1520 near Calais at ‘the Field of Cloth of Gold’.

Anthony Musson is Head of Research at Historic Royal Palaces, where he was appointed to lead and foster a distinctive vision for the charity’s research into historic palaces, diverse communities, landscapes and collections.

Currently, he is the Project Lead on ‘Henry on Tour’, leading an AHRC funded project researching the royal progresses of King Henry VIII. He read history and music at King’s College, Cambridge and was previously Professor of Legal History and Director of the Bracton Centre for Legal History Research at the University of Exeter.
