She has been leading choirs and offering vocal coaching for over 15 years and is a member of the Association of Teachers of Singing and the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
Neil Bateman is a saxophonist. As a child he enjoyed listening to his father’s jazz and calypso record collection and his father at the age of 93 is still singing semi-professionally. He started on the recorder at age 10, graduating to clarinet and saxophone before entering the tunnel of teenagerhood. In 1996 his young daughter lost a toy in Sienna, Italy, the search for which led him past a shop with a cheap saxophone in the window. The musical journey resumed. In recent years, Neil has played with numerous bands and ensembles around Ipswich, has organised the Ipswich Jazz Festival and he is now co-director of the popular Suffolk Jazz School with tutors from the Premier League of the UK jazz scene. Neil produces a rich sound with melodic improvisation and brings humour to his performances.
“Felix Serrano, a skilled guitarist born in Spain and raised in Brazil, weaves a musical tapestry that blends Bossa Nova, Blues and Jazz. His musical journey began with the soulful sounds of Bossa Nova, which permeated the streets of Sao Paulo. Influenced by the rhythmic syncopation of samba and the complex harmonies of jazz, Felix developed a unique style that blended these genres seamlessly. His fingers dance across the fretboard, conjuring melodies that echo warm tropical breezes. In dimly lit jazz clubs in the UK and Spain, Felix found his home. He jammed with fellow musicians, improvising intricate solos that left audiences spellbound. His bluesy licks spoke of longing and resilience, while his Bossa Nova rhythms transported listeners to sun-kissed beaches. Beyond jazz and blues ensembles, Felix collaborates with theater musicals.
