CELEBRATING 325 YEARS OF DISSENT

17th May @ 11:00 am - 3:30 pm

To celebrate 325 Years of Dissent at The Unitarian Meeting House in Ipswich on Friday 17th May 2024, from 11am to 12pm the Meeting House will be open for free conducted tours with a registered tourist guide and members of the congregation to answer any questions.

There will also be free talks at The Hold in the afternoon, you can find out more and book tickets at the book tickets link to the right of this page.

Morning session 1 at Unitarian Meeting House
11:00-12:00: Open House at the Unitarian Meeting House in Friars Street Ipswich IP1 1TD The session is open-door and free guided tours will be offered.

Session 2 – The Hold, Auditorium
13:00-17:00: Public talks and exhibits of Meeting House historic documents from the Suffolk Archives. Tickets for this event are free but must be reserved here on Eventbrite via the book tickets link.

Doors will open at 13:00 and the event will close at 17:00, the talks will run from 13:30-15:30.

Speakers will be Minister Emeritus Rev Cliff Reed, who will deliver the talk: “We are now in the Tabernacle of Meeting: The Origins and Founders of the Ipswich Unitarian Meeting House” and Dr Elizabeth Kingston Harrison, who will deliver the talk: “A Comet in the System: Joseph Priestley and the Emergence of Rational Dissent in the Eighteenth Century.”

Refreshments will also be available.
